Huawei Matebook X Review

Huawei’s new ultra-portable laptop – previewed by TravGear.com at CES Asia in Shanghai – is all about taking on Apple. That’s obvious right from the off in the name – Matebook – but a presentation given at CES Asia by Huawei was basically a list of reasons why his seek new laptop is better.
Windows on the world

It might be, although it runs Windows 10, which will obviously not tempt anyone who’s actually tried using Windows 10. We’re not being pro-Apple here, but hey, come on. Windows 10 is terrible. But the Matebook isn’t.
Ins and outs

Sold in Prestige Gold, Space Grey, and Rose Gold, it’s got a 2160×1440 pixel screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio – and it goes right to the edge. Well, almost. The Matebook X also has a 3.5mm headphone port and a couple of USB-C ports (sigh). However, there’s a MateDock 2 included, which adds all the ‘usual’ ins and outs, like basic USB and HDMI.
Slim & lightweight

However, the key aesthetics for travellers are that the Matebook X weighs 1.05kg, is just 12.5mm in depth, and has Gorilla Glass. In our test the trackpad was great – really responsive – and the keys were both quiet and quick. Oh, and it hasDolby Atmos speakers and a battery life of about 10 hours.
Lovely stuff

Lovely to use and lovely to look at Huawei might have created something special for business travellers.
